DUNKIRK – Michael Mumbower, age 69, passed away unexpectedly Friday morning in Dunkirk.  Born in Hartford City on Nov. 13, 1945, he grew up in Dunkirk and was a graduate of Dunkirk High School.  Mike was in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged with several metals.  He worked at 3M in Hartford City for several years before retirement and belonged to the American Legion and V.F.W., both in Dunkirk.

Survivors include two sons: Dace Mumbower (wife: Joy), Dunkirk, and Dane Mumbower (wife: Melissa), Dunkirk; his mother: Julia Maxine Green, Rockport, TX; a sister: Patricia Henry (husband: Darrell), Redkey, and 4 grandchildren: Tyra, Kodi, Paige, and Daysha.  Many other extended family members and friends also remain.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, Dixie D. Mumbower, who passed away in 2009.  His father, Leonard F. Mumbower and a brother, Raymond Mumbower, are also deceased.

Visiting hours will be held from 3 until 7 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2015 at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany.

A funeral ceremony will be held at the convenience of the family; burial will be at Dunkirk I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
