ALBANY – Meredith Hughes ("Junior"), age 74, Albany, died Thursday Jan. 17, 2013, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital following an illness.  Born in Indianapolis on Sept. 27, 1938, he grew up in Anderson and lived in Colorado for several years before moving to Albany in 2002.  He graduated from Anderson High School in 1957 and joined the U.S. Air Force where he spent his career.  He also worked in heating & cooling and managed several Jiffy Lube stations.  Meredith was active in Scouting; he was an outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting, and snake handling.

He leaves behind his wife and companion, Brenda J. Gates-Hughes; a daughter: Debbie Suplee (husband: Brian), Hampton, VA; a step-son: Denny Rowe (wife: Sharon), MT; a brother: Dick Hughes (wife: Judy), Loveland, CO; 2 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and 2 step great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

His father, Meredith S. Hughes, and his mother, Margie R. Allen, are deceased.

In keeping with Meredith's wishes, cremation will take place.
