October 20, 1923 – March 24, 2011
ALBANY – Mary Jane Young, age 87, Albany, died Thursday morning at Muncie Health Care & Rehabilitation Center. Born in Bartlesville, OK, she moved to Dunkirk at an early age but lived most of her life in Albany. She was a graduate of Albany High School and Muncie Business School. Over the years Mrs. Young worked at the former Armstrong factory in Dunkirk and the Albany License Branch; she retired from T.E. Booher & Sons, Albany, where she worked as a bookkeeper for several years. At one time she attended Albany Christian Church.
Survivors include 2 sons: Steve Young (wife: Joey), Muncie, and Gary Young (wife: Lois), Albany; a daughter: Marsha K. Burress (husband: Ralph), Garrett; 2 sisters: Geraldine Gregg (husband, Jim, deceased), Albany and Helen Daugherty (husband, Bill, deceased), Albany; 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, a niece, and 2 nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Young, who died in 1963; also, her parents: John & Leota Rupert, a brother: Robert Rupert, 2 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany, with burial following at Strong Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday from 12-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
