ALBANY – Mary M. Martz, age 83, Albany, died Monday morning at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.  Born in Muncie on May 14, 1928, she grew up in Selma and was a resident of Albany for most of her life.  Mary worked at Standard Brush & Broom in Portland for several years before retiring in the mid 1970's.

Survivors include a son: Keith Martz, Muncie; a granddaughter: Natasha Martz (partner: Heather Dobbs), Muncie; a niece: Cathy Murrell (husband: Gib), Selma, and a nephew: Raymond Shumate, Kissimmee, FL.

She is preceded in death by a son: Gale Martz; her parents, Cloyde and Lois Lavon (Hodson) Howell, and 2 sisters: Madonna McNelly and Anna Mae Shumate.

A memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 9, 2012 in the chapel at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.  Burial will follow.

In lieu of flowers, Mary's family recommends memorials be made to Heartland Community Services Foundation, Inc., 2804 S. Mock Ave., Muncie, IN 47302.
