DUNKIRK – Marion Alice Shoults, formerly of Dunkirk, died Tuesday morning at Signature Health Care of Muncie. She was 96 years of age. Born in Dunkirk on Oct. 31, 1918, she was the daughter of Warren "Foss" & Clara "Marie" Littler. Marion graduated from Dunkirk High School with the class of 1936 and attended Ball State. She married Herbert Jestom Shoults on Dec. 24, 1937 in Jay County. She was an oil painter and with her husband, Herb, co-owned & operated Shoults Studio in Dunkirk from 1949 until 1965; afterwards, she worked for Reed Photography that later became Lifetouch by Prestige Portraits. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughters: Alice Jean Schwartzkopf Ely (husband: Larry), Muncie, and Marilyn Sue Jetmore (husband: David), Dunkirk; a sister: Harriett Marie (Littler) Hyer, Warsaw, KY; five grandchildren: Theresa "Jan" Twibell (husband: Scott), Muncie, Gregory Allen Schwartzkopf, Denver, CO, Kirk Alan Jetmore (wife: Angie), Portland, Jon Eric Jetmore, Bloomington, and Brian Lee Jetmore (wife: Angie), Dunkirk; 8 great-grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews.
Her husband of 48 years, Herbert Jestom Shoults, died in 1986; two brothers: Frank Perry Littler & Heber Leroy Littler, and two grandsons: Roland & Ronald Schwartzkopf are also deceased.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2015, at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany. A private committal will be held at Dunkirk I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
