Obituary

Maralene Giddings, age 73, Dunkirk, died Sunday February 8, 2026 at IU Health Methodist Hospital, Indianapolis, following an illness. Born in New Castle on April 17, 1952, she grew up in Albany and was a 1970 graduate of Albany High School. Maralene worked in advertising for The Graphic Printing Co. in Portland for 30 years before retiring in 2021. During that timeframe she worked in the Dunkirk office of The News & Sun and for The Commercial Review. In earlier years she worked in Albany at the ceramic shop.

Maralene was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 227, Dunkirk, and was actively involved with Cub Scouts for over 30 years. She was a former member of Daughters of The American Revolution and enjoyed crocheting and quilt-making.

Survivors include her sons: Tom Dornberger, Dunkirk, and David Dornberger (fiancé: Angie Blair), Eaton; sisters: Yvonne Giddings, Toledo, OH, and Anita Giddings (husband: Charles Wicker), Indianapolis; 6 grandchildren, 9, great-grandchildren, and 3 nieces.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Phillip & Phyllis (Keener) Giddings and a sister: Patricia Ann Giddings.

Arrangements are pending; plans for a graveside service at South Mound Cemetery in New Castle will be announced in the future.
