Lysa E. Gates, age 65, Albany, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday May 20, 2026 at home following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Muncie on March 24, 1961, she grew up in Muncie and was a 1979 graduate of Muncie Southside High School. She worked in the office at Muncie Power Products for 38 years before retiring in 2023.

Lysa was a member of Glad Tidings Church, Hartford City, and was a Colts fan. She enjoyed working in the yard, taking family trips, hosting family holiday gatherings, and taking Tucker for rides.

Survivors include her husband of 34 years, Gary A. Gates; son: Matthew Munson (wife: Jama), Muncie; brother: Kenny Barnes (wife: Joy), Hartford City; sister-in-law: Melissa Mumbower (husband: Dane), Pennville; grandson: Allen Munson; 5 nieces & nephews; 1 great-niece, 1 great-nephew, and her beloved dog: Tucker.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy & Nikki Barnes, and grandparents.

Visiting hours will be Friday May 22, 2026 from 3 until 4 p.m. at Meacham Funeral Service followed by the funeral ceremony at 4 p.m. Burial will follow at Black Cemetery.
