DUNKIRK – Lucille Freed, age 92, formerly of Dunkirk, died Friday Jan. 18, 2013, at Persimmon Ridge Rehabilitation Centre, Portland.  Born in Dunkirk on May 5, 1920, she was the daughter of Norman O. and Myrtle (Cline) Landon.  She graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1938 and worked at Kerr Glass (now Verallia), Dunkirk, for 30 years before retiring in 1983.  She belonged to Local 96 and attended Dunkirk Calvary United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a son: Gerald Somers (wife: Lois), Portland; a daughter: Judy Neal (husband: Dewey), Dunkirk; a sister: Lola Dellinger (husband: Francis), Ellenton, FL; 7 grandchildren: Everett Somers, Portland, Cathy Mock (husband: Lonnie), Portland, Lisa Emerick (husband: Brook), Portland, Scott Adney, Hartford City, Greg Bantz, Jr. (wife: Tonya), Hartford City, Teresa Graham (husband: Wayne), Ft. Wayne, and Brad Neal (wife: April), Redkey; 18 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, 2 nieces, and a nephew.

She is preceded in death by her first husband: Everett Somers (1940); her second husband: Ralph L. Freed (1985); a daughter: Sharon K. Bantz; an infant son: Randal Freed; her parents, and a brother: Duane Landon.

Services will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, January 23, 2013, at Dunkirk Calvary United Methodist Church.  Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany, and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the church.
