ALBANY – Lloyd Raymond Case, age 87, Albany, died Monday morning at his home with family by his side. Born in Cotter, AK on December 22, 1922, he was the son of William R. and Maude Case. He moved to Pennville as a child and was an Albany resident for most of his life. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII, having served aboard the U.S.S. Mt. Vernon until the time of his honorable discharge. Mr. Case retired from Borg Warner (Warner Gear) after working there 40 years. He was a longtime member of American Legion Post 167, Albany, and S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. where he was a part of several barbershop quartets over the years. He was an avid golfer and outdoorsman who enjoyed organic gardening, fishing, genealogy, and wine-making. In years past he belonged to the Moose Lodge in Muncie.

Survivors include his children: Steve Case (wife: Karen), Albany, and Patty Case (husband: Jim Matson), Dansville, NY; several half-brothers including Richard Case; a half-sister: Doris Crouch; 2 grandchildren: Todd Case, Albany, and Andy Case (wife: Katie), Albany; 6 great-grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Helen P. Case, who died in 2009; his parents; a grandson: Jason W. Case; 2 half-brothers: Charles Pete Case and James Case; a half-sister is also deceased.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Thursday October 7, 2010, at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany. Burial will follow at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Pennville, with military rites.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 5 until 9 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
