Linda "Kay" Gilbert, age 78, Redkey, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday October 10, 2023 at home, surrounded by family and loved ones, following a brief illness.  Born in Lawrenceburg, TN on May 12, 1945, she lived there until moving to Muncie at a young age.  She was a graduate of Muncie Central High School and was a clerk at the post office in Redkey for over 32 years before retiring.  She was a member of Redkey Nazarene Church and former member of Fun for Kids and Muncie Moose Lodge.  Over the years Kay enjoyed league bowling, reading, crocheting, ceramics, cooking, canning, and going on family vacations every year.  She especially loved spending time with family and having Thursday evening dinners at her parent's house together.

Survivors include a son: Tracy Gilbert, Redkey; daughter: Trenda Gilbert, Redkey; brothers: Billy Joe Buffalo, Clearwater, FL, and John Buffalo (wife: Sandy), Hartford City; grandchildren: Justin (wife: Monica), Jessica, Chase, Riley, Amber, and Kendra; great-grandchildren: Bryce, J.T., Wyatt, Aliyha, Oliver, Peyton, Anabel, Olivia, Joshua, and Jaxson; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Larry L. Gilbert, who died in 2014; her son: Troy D. Gilbert; parents: John & Christine (Bonner) Buffalo; brother: Rickie Buffalo, and sister: Marjorie Fields.

Services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at Meacham Funeral Service with burial following at Hill Crest Cemetery, Redkey.

Visiting hours are Tuesday from 1 until 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
