DUNKIRK – Laura Ramsey, age 98, Dunkirk, died Friday Sept. 11, 2015, at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. Born in Obey City, TN, she moved to Dunkirk in 1953 and lived the past several years north of town. She attended Calvary United Methodist Church and retired from Indiana Glass Co. in 1982.
Survivors include a son: Charles Ramsey (wife: Janet), Cedar Keys, FL; 2 daughters: Rebecca Stafford, Dunkirk, and Judy Byrne (husband: John, Sr.), Hondo, TX; a brother: Clayton Padgett (wife: Jessie), Crossville, TN; 2 sisters: Nell Whitaker (husband: Bob), Anderson, and Norene Jernigan (husband: JC), Goodlettsville, TN; 4 grandchildren: Brian Ramsey (wife: Laura), Don Stafford, Jr. (wife: Elizabeth), John Byrne, Jr. (wife: Naomi), and Jeffrey Byrne (wife: Ruby); 3 great-grandchildren: Reagan Ramsey, Brandon Stafford, Catherine Stafford, and several nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Ramsey, in 1955; also deceased are her parents, a son-in-law: Don Stafford, Sr., a granddaughter: Darla J. Stafford, a brother, and four sisters.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday September 13, 2015, at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany. Burial will follow at a later date at Wilson Cemetery; the website is www.wilsoncemetery.info.
Friends and family are invited to gather at the Stafford farm north of Dunkirk from 12 until 3 p.m. on Sunday.
