MUNCIE – Kyle E. Chapman, age 86, Muncie, died Wednesday May 4, 2016, at Signature Health Care following an extended illness. Born in Kentucky on Aug. 14, 1929, he moved to Indiana at a young age and was a Muncie resident for most of his life. He studied accounting at Ball State University and was a veteran of both the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force. He was a truck driver for Al Pete's Pride in Muncie before retiring after 35 years of employment. Kyle was a member of American Legion Post 19, Muncie, and enjoyed working on cars for family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Betty Chapman, and their children: Vickie MacZura (husband: James), Phoenix, AZ, Teresa Chambers (husband: Hollis), Muncie, Ted Turner (wife: Jackie), Kansas City, KS, Pam Jackson, Muncie, Billy Chapman (wife: Diane), Eaton, Steve Chapman (wife: Melissa), Monroeville, Cindy Stage (husband: Marty), Elwood, and Lisa Randel (husband: Paul), New Smyrna Beach, FL; 4 sisters: Roxanna St. Meyer (husband: James), Muncie, Suzy Hucks, Pensacola, FL, Jenny Yeager, Dixon, IL, and Betty Myers, Kokomo; 19 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Noah & Ruth Chapman; 2 sons: Ronnie Chapman and Kyle Chapman, Jr. ("Bub"); 3 brothers: Jay Chapman, Bobby Chapman, Ruben Chapman, and a sister: Ruby Chapman.
Services will be 12 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2016, at Meacham Funeral Service with burial following at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Burial will follow with military rites provided by Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. at the funeral home.
