Kenneth L. Fields, age 87, Albany, died Saturday October 10, 2026 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. Kenneth was born just outside of Albany on the family farm on September 22, 1939; he remained living on the farm where he developed a love of dairy farming that would last a lifetime. He graduated from Albany High school with the class of 1957 and received an Associate degree in agriculture from Purdue University. Kenneth served in the U.S. Army National Guard and worked at Delco Remy (Delphi) in Anderson for over 40 years before retiring at the age of 66. He was a 50+ year member of Anthony Lodge No. 171, F.&A.M., belonged to Order of The Eastern Star, and participated in Jobs Daughters. Over the years he was active in 4-H and enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and working in the yard.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Nancy Fields, whom he married on October 11, 1964; son: Jeff Fields (wife: Nicky), Farmland; daughters: Shelly Kern (husband: Jon), Albany, and Tammy Lane (husband: Eric), Warsaw; 14 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Ralph & Lurenda (James) Fields, and 3 brothers: Keith Fields, Ronnie Fields, and Marvin Fields.
Visitation will be Thursday October 15, 2026 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Meacham Funeral Service followed by the funeral ceremony at 1 p.m. Burial will take place at Hopewell Cemetery, Farmland, with military rites by Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard.
