ALBANY – A beloved mother, Kathryn White, age 89, Albany, died Saturday morning surrounded by family at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. She was born at home in Coffee County, TN, on March 11, 1923 and later moved to Albany where she lived for over 60 years. Kathryn was a waitress for several years at restaurants that included Ma Brown's Diner in Albany. She also worked in local bakeries and last at the nursing home in Albany. She attended First Pentecostal Church in Dunkirk and was an avid doll collector.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Noah White; 2 sons: Rick White (wife: Diana), Tullahoma, TN, and Jerry Metcalf, Albany; 3 daughters: Jean Stocker, Albany, Linda Stocker (husband: Fred), Anderson, and Carolyn Bach-Schultz (husband: Craig), Seattle, WA; a sister: Annie Wilson, Albany; 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew J. & Myrtle E. Brown, and 6 brothers.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany, with burial following at Black Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 5-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
