ALBANY – Kathleen "Kitty" Thornburg, age 92, died Tuesday July 30, 2013 in Indianapolis. She was born in Blackburn, England to Thomas and Martha Beatrice Kelly. During WWII, she worked in a munitions factory in Blackburn, assembling timing mechanisms for bombs. During this time she met the late Paul "Curly" Thornburg, later following him to the States where they enjoyed a 44 year marriage. They lived in Powers Station in Jay County and raised Thoroughbred race horses.
She is survived by her children: Paul Thornburg (significant other: Kim Chalmers), Fishers, Leslie Slack (husband: Andrew), Muncie, and Carol Spicuzza (husband: Michael), Indianapolis; a stepdaughter: Cristy Loomis, Punta Gorda, FL; six grandchildren: Kimberly, Alexa, Shelley, Leah, Kelli, and Paul Ryan; also, three great-grandchildren: Adelaide, Jackson, and Barrett.
Her husband, parents, and 2 brothers are deceased.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany, with visiting hours from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Cremation will follow.
