ALBANY – John J Neal Cox, 84, Albany, died Sunday afternoon at Albany Health Care & Rehabilitation Center. Born at home in Dunkirk on Nov. 15, 1926, he attended school in Dunkirk and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He worked at McCormick Bros., Albany, for 26 years until its closure and went on to work for Feeney's Manufacturing for several years until retiring. He was heavily involved with Civil Defense policing in the 1960's and was a hunter and fisherman. In later years he occupied his time with horticulture.

Survivors include 2 sons: John E. Cox (wife: Beth Ann), Albany and Randy Dean Cox (wife: Marsha), Hartford City; a brother: Richard Cox (wife: Sherry), Dunkirk; a sister: Clara Beth Spades, TX; a sister-in-law: Natalie Cox, Dunkirk; 3 grandsons: Charles Jonas Cox, Mackenzie Cox and Mitch Cox; also, several nieces & nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter: Vicky Lynn Cox, 2 brothers: Charles E. Cox and Raymond E. Cox, a sister: Ilene Pine and an infant granddaughter: Rebecca Cox.

Graveside services will be conducted at 4 p.m. on Friday, October 7, 2011 at Strong Cemetery, Albany, with military rites provided by Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard.  Burial will follow.
