JoAnn Sheller, age 98, Albany, died Saturday April 25, 2026 at her home. Born in Anderson on December 4, 1927, she grew up in Anderson and Dunkirk, IN. She was a 1945 graduate of Dunkirk High School where she was a cheerleader and played saxophone in the band. In 1949, JoAnn earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Ball State University. She worked as a RN at Ball Memorial Hospital and then at the Muncie Clinic. She later became a school nurse with the Delaware Community School Corporation, retiring in 1990 after 24 years.
She married Ervin Sheller and was happily married for 65 years until his death in 2012. JoAnn was a 70+ year member of Albany United Methodist Church, active in numerous committees and was one of the founding members of the A.U.M.C. Resale Shop. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, traveling, and was known for her homemade pies. She was an avid Bridge player, playing with multiple local Bridge clubs.
Survivors include sons: Don E. Sheller (Beverly), Ridgeville, and Ted Sheller (Don), Muncie; daughter: Ann Sheller, Albany; grandchildren: Kristie Newton (James), Winchester, Samantha Morris (Matthew), Farmland, and Tyler Sheller (Brent), Indianapolis; great-grandchildren: Lydia, Carter, Audrey, Parker, Hadley, Grace, and Finley, and her sister: Carolyn Canada (Bill), Anderson, and several nieces & nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ervin Sheller; parents: Everett (Sr.) & Jessie Helen (Bronnenberg) Campbell, and brother: Everett “Scoop” Campbell, Jr.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, May 1, 2026 at Meacham Funeral Service with Rev. Sharon Taylor officiating. Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Visiting hours are Friday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
