REDKEY – Former Redkey resident Joan Henry, age 79, died Monday morning at Albany Health Care following an extended illness. Born in Dunkirk on December 30, 1930, she was raised in Redkey by her parents, Don & Alice (Overla) Henry. She attended Redkey High School and worked nearly 8 years at Hampton's Bakery in Redkey. In 1996 she retired from Jay Garment in Portland where she worked for 45 years. She was a former member of Redkey Nazarene Church and current member of Word of Life Ministries, Albany.
Survivors include 2 brothers: Virgil Henry (wife: Sue) and Delnor "Bud" Henry (wife: Penny), all of Albany; 3 sisters: Elnora Rees, Albany, Letha Henry, Albany, and Sandra Kaufman (husband: Sonny), Dunkirk; also surviving are several nieces & nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother: William Henry, and 2 sisters: Alice M. Henry and Janet S. Henry.
A funeral ceremony will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 2010, at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany. Private burial will take place at Little Salamonia Cemetery near Portland.
