DUNKIRK – Charles James Sullivan III (Jim), of Dunkirk, IN, passed on Friday, August 12, 2016 at Ball Memorial Hospital.  Jim was born on June 22, 1941 in Portland, IN to Charles James Sullivan II and Laura Fern (Nuchols) Sullivan.  Jim graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1959.  In 1966, he married Trudy Reasoner and together they had 2 children, Darrin and Kimberly.  Jim worked at Kerr Glass Factory, serving as night supervisor of the mold shop.  Jim recollected on his time at Kerr with prideful sentiment.  Jim served in the United States Army from 1963-1969, receiving the Good Conduct Medal and The Sharpshooter badge.  Following his military tenure, Jim returned to Kerr until 1985.  He then worked for Indiana Gas Company, performing various duties, until his retirement in 1995.  Jim will be remembered for his vivacious spirit, a strong sense of duty to his family, the love and compassion he extended to others, and the ability to bring laughter and comic relief to any setting.

Jim is survived by his wife of 49 years, Trudy, his children, Darrin (Rachel) Sullivan and Kimberly (Michael) Smith, his grandchildren, Landon and Rylan Sullivan and Derek Smith, as well as several nieces and nephews.  Jim was predeceased by his parents, sister, Shirley J. Crawmer, and grandson, David M. Smith.

A memorial service will be held at Meacham Funeral Service on Tuesday, August 16, 2016; with viewing hours beginning at noon, prior to the service at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be directed to Southern Care Hospice.  The family would like to extend its appreciation to the Southern Care Hospice team for their diligence and care in the recent years.
