ALBANY – Jim Rowe, 86, Albany, died Wednesday morning at Albany Health & Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness. Born in Indianapolis on Mar. 5, 1925, he graduated from high school in Indianapolis and joined the U.S. Army during WWII – a time in which traveled the world. After returning from the war he graduated from barber school and cut hair in Indianapolis for 10 years before coming to Albany in the early 1960's. He retired in 1995 from Rowe's Barber Shop, a business he owned & operated in Albany for 35 years. Jim enjoyed playing bingo and golf.
Survivors include his wife, Marceil (VanDeusen) Rowe; a son: Jimmy and step son: Ed; 2 daughters: Linda and Marcia and 4 step daughters: Shirley, Pat, Judith and Sharon; also, several step grandchildren & step great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by a son: Edris; his parents, brothers and sisters.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 9, 2011 at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany. Burial will follow at Hill Crest Cemetery, Redkey, with military rites by members of the Dunkirk American Legion.
Visiting hours will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be sent to Alzheimer's Association or Cancer Services of East Central Indiana.
