ALBANY – Jerry Thomas Metcalf, age 72, Albany, died Wednesday morning at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Chattanooga, TN, on May 6, 1943, he moved to Indiana at a young age and was a resident of Albany for many years. He was an appliance repairman that enjoyed tinkering with electronics, including watches, and even made clocks from wood and other materials. He also enjoyed playing poker.
Survivors include a brother: Rick White (wife: Diana), Manchester, TN, and three sisters: Jean Stocker, Albany, Linda Stocker (husband: Fred), Anderson, and Carolyn Schultz (husband: Craig), Seattle, WA; several nieces & nephews; a son, and two daughters.
He is preceded in death by his father: Jessie Metcalf; his mother: Mary Kathryn White; his step-father: Noah White, and a brother-in-law: Ed Stocker.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at Black Cemetery with military rites provided by Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard. Burial will follow.
