Jeanette Louise (Holdcroft) Woodard was born to Russell E. and Blanche (Smith) Holdcroft, on October 22, 1928, at their family home in Jay County, Indiana. She grew up on the family farms in Jay County. Jeanette attended Oak Grove School and graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1946.
On June 6, 1947, Jeanette became the bride of Edwin Earl (Skid) Woodard. They resided their entire married life in the Dunkirk area. They were married for 48 years until "Skid's" death on September 19, 1995.
Following high school graduation, she worked at Keep You Neat Cleaners in Dunkirk and later attended Indiana Business College. For several years, she worked at home as a secretary for Gerber's Dairy. Jeanette later worked for Del Com Schools in the cafeteria where she retired from Delta HS cafeteria after several years.
Jeanette was known as an accomplished seamstress. She made all the dresses for her four daughters' weddings, which including their wedding dresses, attendants' and flower girls' dresses. She even made her own formals for each wedding. Jeanette enjoyed sewing and throughout her lifetime made many gifts for people.
Jeanette also enjoyed gardening and planting flowers and watching them grow. She enjoyed traveling and camping with her family and friends. She and her husband had visited most of the 50 states through the years.
Jeanette was a 50+ year member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was a Past Matron of the Dunkirk Chapter and held many star points while being a member. She was a Past Associate Guardian of Job's Daughters Bethel #87 of Dunkirk. Jeanette was also a Past State Officer of Job's Daughters.
From birth, Jeanette and her family attended Bethel United Methodist Church. She served on many different committees in the church. She served as the janitor of the church for many years. She was also a member of the Bethel Aid Women's Club, again serving in many offices in the organization.
Jeanette is survived by her family, which includes her daughters Kathy Jutte New Palestine, IN, Edwinna (Neil) Dent Alexandria, IN, and Lisa (John) Anderson Dunkirk, IN. Her grandchildren also survive her. Rebekah (Jason) Williams, Joy (Patrick) Howard, Rachel Reifel, Richard Hawk (Kate Mills), Jonathan (Meghan) Woodard, Renee (Ken) Harris, Rayetta (James) Corley, and Luke (Mikayle) Anderson. Step-Grandchildren include: Crystal (Steve) Ulery, Sandra (Kelly) Marsh, and Joni Dent (Drew Boruff). She is also survived by 28 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Joycelyn Current, Son-in-law Omer Jutte, grandsons Matt Jutte and Edward Reifel. Her sisters Verna Lee and Jean (Floyd) Lephart and her brother Charles Richard Holdcroft, also preceded her in death.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 23, 2024 at Meacham Funeral Service with burial at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Visiting hours are Sunday from 4 until 7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home. O.E.S. rites will be given Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m.
