YORKTOWN – James "Jimmy" R. Gill passed away Friday at home with his family present after a lengthy illness. Jimmy was born in 1947 and graduated from Albany High School in 1966. Mr. Gill was a Veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the U.S. Navy from 1967 until he was honorably discharged in 1971. After his service, he graduated from Vincennes University and then attended Ball State University.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his father James Manor Gill and brother in law Donald Bebout.

Surviving members include his mother, Barbara Gill of Muncie, and sisters Catherine Bebout, Montclair, NJ, Janet Gay, Knoxville, TN, and Linda Grove of Greentown, along with his brother Richard R. Gill, Muncie. In addition to immediate family, other members include James Gay, Ken Grove, and Shanna Gill, nieces Melissa Langewisch, Kristen Bebout, Meghan Swinson, Jennifer Jimmie, Emily Summers, Erin & Rachel Gill, and nephew Brendan Gill.

Jimmy retired from Gill Bros. Furniture in 2009.

Family and friends are welcome to attend calling hours on Monday, April 12 from 5- 8 pm. at Meacham Funeral Service in Albany.

A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Muncie on Tuesday. Burial will follow at Strong Cemetery with military services provided by Veterans of Delaware County Honor Guard.

The Gill family requests in lieu of flowers donations be sent to Disabled American Veterans (D.A.V.) in Delaware County.
