DUNKIRK - Jackie Lee ("Jack") Mock, beloved father, papaw, and husband, passed very peacefully from this world May 22nd, at his home in Dunkirk.  Jack was born in Jay County on June 9, 1934, and his parents were Clyde and Marie Mock.  He attended Jay Schools and was a lifelong resident of Jay County, calling Dunkirk his home for well over 50 years.  Jack was a veteran of the United States Air Force. While stationed in Germany, he formed a rock band called the Jumping Jacks, which won an award for being the best military-based band in all of the Armed Forces in Europe. As a result, his band played a bill after Chubby Checker, while opening for Elvis Presley.  While selling insurance for the Foresters, Jack set sales records that stand to this day. From there, he became a top supervisor at the Westinghouse Large Power Transformer facility in Muncie. He eventually went to work at Indiana Glass in Dunkirk, before his retirement.  An avid fisherman, Jack's hobbies also included playing the guitar, painting, mowing the lawn, and rooting for his beloved Purdue Boilermakers and Philadelphia Phillies.  Whether shooting pool nightly with Johnny Cash, loaning guitar strings to Elvis, playing the guitar in his own living room as a teen for the legendary Hank Williams, or simply coaching youth baseball and football, Jack most certainly lived a full, active, and fascinating life.

Survivors include a son, Eric Mock (Wife: Wendy), Pennville; a daughter, Cindy King, Newbern, TN; two granddaughters, Jennifer Fruitt, Dunkirk and Katie King, Jonesboro, AR; two grandsons, Andrew Mallard, Pennville and Alex Mallard, Muncie; one great-granddaughter, Quinn Bell, Dunkirk; and two brothers, Larry Mock, Butler, and Bill Mock, Portland.

Jack was preceded in death by his beloved wife Felma in 2003, and also by three brothers, Gene, Ronnie, and Max Mock.

The family will have a private viewing and funeral service on Saturday, May 28, 2016, at Meacham Funeral Service with military rites provided by Veterans Of Delaware County Honor Guard.

A memorial service followed by a burial at IOOF Cemetary in Dunkirk will be announced at a future date.

Memorials may be made in Jack's name to Smith Veterinary Hospital, in Berne.
