Jack Hines, age 86, died Sunday June 2, 2024 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. Born in Green Township (Randolph County), Indiana on April 7, 1938, he was a lifelong resident of the county and lived east of Albany for several years. Jack graduated with the last graduating class of Green Township School in 1957. He served 9 years with the Indiana National Guard and worked at New Venture Gear for 31 years before retiring at age 57. He then worked for 10 years in sporting goods at Walmart in both Portland and Muncie. Jack formerly attended Fairview United Methodist Church and belonged to the Oddfellows Lodge that was in Albany. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, trapping, woodworking, traveling (including a trip to the Holy Land), and bowling. In earlier years he farmed in Randolph County with his father.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 64 years, Marilyn L. Hines, and their sons: Todd Hines, Lakeland, FL, Rick Hines, Fairview, and Darren Hines (wife: Dawn), Yorktown; a sister: Alice Moody, MI; grandchildren: Shawn Hines (wife: Deryse), Reba Young (husband: Travis), Austin Hines, and Ava Hines; several nieces & nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Lewis & Della (Hall) Hines; a brother: Lewis E. Hines, and 3 sisters: Pauline Whitehair, Della Stafford, and (infant) Martha Hines.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday June 7, 2024 at Meacham Funeral Service.
Visiting hours are Friday from 4 until 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
