Obituary

Ireda Welch, age 86, Albany, went home to be with her Lord and Savior the morning of Thursday October 1, 2026 while residing at Albany Health Care & Rehabilitation Center. Born in Farmland on September 12, 1940, she was a 1958 graduate of DeSoto High School and a lifelong resident of Delaware County. Ireda worked at Mutual Federal Bank (now Northwest) in Muncie for 17 years and dispatched at Borg-Warner in Muncie until 2004. She belonged to White Chapel Congregational Christian Church, Albany, and was a former member of Albany Church of The Nazarene. She loved her cats, singing (especially at church), and karaoke. She also enjoyed chatting with friends on Facebook and sharing inspirational messages. She loved being in the kitchen and cooking home cooked meals for her family and many friends. Her specialty was dirt pudding and carrot cake, but it was her party mix that was the family staple when it came time for the holidays.

Survivors include a son: Randy Snider (wife: Debbie), Albany, and daughter: Sandy Barney (husband: Dwayne), Wesley, AR; brother: Dale Mills, Albany; grandchildren: Craig Snider (wife: Christi), Sarah Snider, Kimberly Wilkerson, Michael Gohmann, Megan McDaniel, Matt McDaniel (wife: Sam), and Marcus McDaniel; 6 great-grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband: John Welch, Sr., who died in 2006; parents: Chester & Helen (Stauffer) Mills; brothers: Wallace Mills & Arvin Mills; sisters: Vivian Bilby and (her identical twin) Oneida Mills; brother-in-law: Rodney Bilby; sisters-in-law: Josephine Mills and Betsy Mills.

Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday October 5, 2026 at Meacham Funeral Service.

The funeral ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.

She will be buried with family at Woodlawn Cemetery, Maxville.

Memorials may be sent to White Chapel Church (Albany) or National Kidney Foundation of Indiana.
