ALBANY – Howard Bowdell, age 69, Albany, died Monday September 5, 2016, at home with family following an illness of five months.  Born in Hartford City on September 26, 1946, he grew up in Albany and graduated from Albany High School with the class of 1964.  Howard worked at Albany Elementary School as a custodian for twenty years before retiring in 1996.  He also did construction work for several years.  He enjoyed classic car shows, fishing, and cruising around town.

Survivors include his wife of thirty-eight years, Sue Bowdell; a daughter: Carrie Swingley (husband: Charlie), Ridgeville; a sister-in-law: Linda Bowdell, Albany; two step-grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Roscoe & Hazel Bowdell; four brothers: Francis "Jack" Bowdell, Charles "Book" Bowdell, Donald Bowdell, Robert Bowdell, and a sister: Lorraine Bowdell.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 5 until 8 p.m. at Meacham Funeral Service.  Cremation will follow.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 18, 2016 at Black Cemetery.
