ALBANY – Geraldine (Ruhl) Gegenheimer, age 78, Albany, died Saturday January 15, 2011, at Albany Health Care. Born in Carmen, OK on June 19, 1932, she moved to Albany in 1940 and graduated from Albany High School in 1950. She lived in Granville for 15 years and Albany for several years before moving to Tennessee and Florida then moved back to Albany. She was a homemaker and at one time worked for Armstrong Cork (later known as Saint Gobain Containers) in Dunkirk. Geraldine was a member of Glass Bottle Blowers Association Local 97 and belonged to Albany Christian Church. At the nursing home she became involved with the activities there and was president of the resident council. She enjoyed playing bingo, Wii bowling, sewing, and crocheting. In earlier years she belonged to one of the local euchre clubs.

Survivors include her children: John Gegenheimer, Jr. (wife: Linda), Muncie, Elnora Shaffer, Albany, Rhonda Davidson (partner: Harold Pinkston), Dunkirk, Terri Ballard (partner: Ed Johnson), Cheyenne, WY, and Joyce Ballard, Larimore, ND; a brother: Robert Ruhl (wife: Glenda), Redkey; 2 sisters: Charlotte Bell (husband: Jack), Dunkirk, and Pamela Batt (husband: Jerry), Muncie; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John Gegenheimer, Sr., who died in 1987; her parents are also deceased.

Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Saturday January 22, 2011, at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany, with burial following at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4 until 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.
