George went to work on the railroad after he graduated high school in 1957. After a few years on the railroad, he went to work for Armstrong Cork Company/Kerr Glass Manufacturing Co./St. Gobain until his retirement. After retirement, George started working at Albany Golf Club and worked there until a few months before his passing. George was also a member of the Freemasons and was a member for over 56 years. In addition, he was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Moose in Dunkirk. George’s favorite hobbies were playing golf with his family and friends, taking his grandkids to Frank Merry to the shooting range and enjoyed going to breakfast with his friends and family.
On July 23, 1960, he married his beloved wife, Sharron (nee Bantz), at Mt. Tabor Methodist Church. During their marriage they enjoyed traveling and antiquing. Their favorite place was always Michigan. They always went back to St. Ignace & Mackinac Island, Frankenmuth and Holland. His happiest moments were spent with his wife, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Before he passed, he would sit for hours at his grandson’s outdoor porch telling stories of old and new. His grandchildren were his world. George will be remembered for his friendships, his love for our mom and our family, his love for his grandkids, his love of golf, and his love for life and never giving up!
Private graveside services will be held at a later date.
