ALBANY – Lifelong Albany resident Geneva "Neva" Evans, age 91, passed away Sunday March 21, 2010, at Ball Memorial Hospital. Born in Randolph County on May 13, 1918, she was the daughter of Jesse & Ruth (Proctor) Brown. She graduated from Albany High School and worked at Minars' IGA for 12 years before retiring in 1980. Neva was a member of Albany Christian Church, a local card club for 15 years, 20th Century Club, and in past years an officer in the P.T.O., Band Boosters, and Women's Bowling Association.

She married William Evans (deceased in 1976) on March 21, 1936; together they had 3 children who survive: Marcia K. Jetmore (husband: Bob), Albany, Larry "Butch" Evans (wife: Jody), Albany, and Paula Raines, Muncie. Also surviving are 3 grandchildren: Stephen Jetmore, OH, Rhonda Funkhouser (husband: Rick), McCordsville, and Donna Wilson (husband: Robin), FL; 4 great-grandchildren: Staci Funkhouser, Brittany Wilson, Tiffany Wilson, and Bryan Wilson; a sister-in-law: Mildred Evans, Indianapolis, and several nieces & nephews, great-nieces & nephews, cousins, and many friends.

Preceding her in death besides her husband William are 5 sisters, 2 brothers, and a dear friend and sister-in-law: Marjorie Jarvis.

Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Wednesday March 24, 2010, at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany, with burial following at Strong Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family would wish to thank the nurses & aides at Albany Health Care for their wonderful care and friendship of their loved one who resided there for 5 years. She made many friends there.
