Gary D. Smith, age 62, Muncie, died unexpectedly on Friday June 23, 2023 while riding his bicycle to work.  Born in Bluffton on September 18, 1960, he grew up in Jay County around Bryant and attended Jay County High School.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. and was employed at Mursix Corp., Yorktown.  Gary enjoyed fishing and camping.

Survivors include his mother: Loretta (Morgan) Martin; brothers: Terry Cox (wife: Brenda) and Mike Smith (wife: Susan); sister: Debra Dahlstram; uncle/aunt: Jim & Juanita Simon, and nieces & nephews including Andrew Smith, Donna Valentine, and David Mays.

His father, Paul W. Smith, is deceased.

Cremation will take place; no services are scheduled at this time.
