INDIANAPOLIS - Garnet J. Brown, age 86, Indianapolis, died Thursday Dec. 18, 2014, at the home she shared with her sister, Marilyn.  Born in Hartford City on Oct. 26, 1928, she attended school in Hammond and lived in California for thirty-three years.  Garnet lived the past several years with her sister in Indianapolis.  In younger years Garnet was a homemaker and worked briefly as a telephone operator while living in California and as a nursing home aide in Indiana.

Survivors include a son: Dennis Brown, OR; two daughters: Nancy Conklin, TX, and Linda Johnson, AZ; two brothers: Charles Huffman, TN, and George Huffman, Marion; three sisters: Marilyn Owens, Indianapolis, Maxine Getz, Marion, and Dora Mae Wright, Noblesville; a half-brother: Steven Reynard, whereabouts unknown; a half-sister: Shirley Walters, Plymouth; also surviving are grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Thomas Huffman & Alice (Martin); two infant sons and one young adult son; three brothers, and three sisters.

There will be no viewing hours or public funeral ceremony for Garnet.  Interment will take place at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Muncie.
