ALBANY – Frances J. Cowley, age 88, Albany, died Friday evening at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.  Born in Loveland, Ohio on July 8, 1926, she lived most of her life in Albany.  She attended Albany High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Ball State in teaching.  Mrs. Cowley was a substitute teacher in Delaware County schools for four years and worked for Professional Data Processing in Muncie for seven years.  She belonged to Albany United Methodist Church for over fifty years and was a former member of Order of The Eastern Star in Albany.

Survivors include two daughters: Linda L. Bowdell, Albany, and Rosa Overholt (husband: Brian), Albany; 5 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Her husband of nearly 63 years, William B. Cowley, died in 2005.  Her parents, William & Minnie Andrew, are also deceased.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, August 25, 2014, at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany, with burial following at Strong Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 4 until 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
