MUNCIE – Ernie Tomlin, age 75, Muncie, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2014 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. Born in Afton, VA on Mar. 29, 1938, he moved to Indiana in 1960. Ernie retired in 2004 from Saint Gobain (now Verallia), Muncie, and had also worked at Warner Gear and Maxon Corp. in Muncie. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran stationed at Tyndall A.F.B., Panama City, FL, and was a former member of Albany Lions Club. He enjoyed watching the Colts, Pacers, and Ball State sports and enjoyed gardening. His greatest devotion was to his family.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon (DeHaven) Tomlin, and their children: Todd Howard Tomlin, Las Vegas, NV, and Lori Jo Tomlin, Evansville; a brother: Robert Tucker Tomlin (wife: Lynn), Mechanicsville, VA; a sister: Janet T. Marshall (husband: Elmo), Churchview, VA; 2 grandchildren: Tucker Tomlin, Riverside, CA, and Noah Tomlin, Las Vegas, NV; also, 16 nieces & nephews, and several great nieces & nephews.
He is preceded in death by a daughter, Jo Ellen Tomlin, who died in infancy; also deceased are his parents: Clarence E. (Sr.) & Martha V. Tomlin and 2 brothers: Clarence E. Tomlin, Jr. and Scott C. Tomlin.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany, with burial following at Strong Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
