DUNKIRK – Elizabeth "Liz" Pursifull of rural Dunkirk died Wednesday evening at home with family & friends by her side following an extended illness. She was 74. Born in Muncie on November 27, 1936, her parents were Alfred & Lottie Gilland. She graduated from Eaton High School in 1955 and remained a Delaware County resident for most of her life. Liz worked at Indiana Glass, Dunkirk, for 30 years before retiring. She enjoyed living in the country, cooking & canning, and helping others. She belonged to Local 501 Flint Glass Workers Union and was a former member of Jobs Daughters in Eaton.
Survivors include her son: Richard "Rick" Pursifull, Dunkirk; 2 sisters: Dorothy Smoot, Eaton, and Pat Evans, Dunkirk; her grandson: Richard Leroy Pursifull, Jr.; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces/nephews; special friends: Sandy Fowler, Bruce Hall, Cliff Green, and her second son Eric Beck; also, her beloved dogs: Ozzy & Ike. A special thank you is extended to family and hospice staff for all of their support and help.
She is preceded in death by her parents, former husband: Richard L. Pursifull, and 2 sisters: Mary Rose and (infant) Betty Jane Gilland.
Services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany, with burial following at Union Cemetery, Eaton. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 11-2 p.m. at the funeral home.
