RIDGEVILLE – Earldene (Houk) Rice, age 81, Ridgeville, died Saturday morning at Randolph Nursing Home in Winchester. Born in Muncie on March 6, 1934, she was the daughter of James Earl, Sr. and Nina May (Barnett) Houk. She grew up in Eaton and lived in Jay County for several years before moving to Randolph County in the 1980's. She was a homemaker and belonged to many organizations over the years including American Legion Auxiliary Post 507, Ridgeville, Women of The Moose, Portland, Eagles Lodge, Portland, and V.F.W., Ft. Recovery.
Survivors include her daughter: Loretta Dollar (husband: Randy), Ridgeville; a granddaughter: Ashley Hart (husband: Jonathan), Indianapolis; 2 great-grandchildren: Chasyn & Jacksyn Hart, Indianapolis; a brother: Earl Houk (wife: Melody), Tulsa, OK; 5 sisters: Juanita Fouch, Muncie, Bessie Cox, Muncie, Caroline Houk, Winchester, Claudia Young, Muncie, and Nola Runk (friend: Ross), Summertown, TN; 2 sisters-in-law: Judy Houk, New Carlisle, and Kay Houk, Jenks, OK; also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers: Richard, Jack, and Troy Houk, and a sister: Thelma Addison.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, September 2, 2015, at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany, with burial following at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 until 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
