ALBANY – Dwain Steen, age 82, Albany, died Friday March 18, 2016, at home. Born in Portland on September 25, 1933, he was the son of Albert & Jessie (Lawson) Steen. He grew up in Portland and had lived in Alexandria before moving to Albany in the early 1960's. Dwain sold insurance for Western & Southern and worked for the railroad for a few years before starting work at Westinghouse A.B.B. in Muncie; he retired in 1993 after working there around thirty years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and was a member of American Legion & V.F.W. in Dunkirk and AmVets in Royerton. Dwain was a fisherman and enjoyed watching NASCAR and golf on TV, spending time with family at his lake cottage, and feeding the squirrels & wild birds in his back yard. He also enjoyed spending time with his dog, Muffy.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 59 years, Ellen (Fuller) Steen, and their children: Kevin Steen (wife: Annette), Muncie, and Joy Beatrice (husband: Tony), Burlington, WI; five grandchildren: Derek Beatrice, Adam Steen, Matthew Steen, Jonathan Steen, Aaron Steen, and two great-grandchildren: "Little Matthew" and Ella Steen.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother: Harry Steen, and two sisters: Harriet Soldaat and Gloria Holcomb.
Services were private; burial took place at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Dunkirk.
