ALBANY – Dorwin L. Arnold, age 88, Albany, died Thursday afternoon at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Born and raised in Jay County on March 27, 1926, he had been a resident of Albany since 1953. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Dorwin worked at Interstate Tool & Die in Albany and was a salesman for Liggett & Myers Tobacco Co. for almost 30 years before retiring. In the late 1960's he owned AA Raceway in Albany during a time when slot cars were popluar.
He is survived by two sons: Terry L. Arnold, Albany, and Rick A. Arnold, Geneva; a step-son: Dave Hampton (wife: Vicki), Denver, Colorado; 12 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and 2 step great-grandchildren.
His first wife, Lelia R. Arnold, died in 1983. His second wife, Helen B. Arnold, died in 2012. Dorwin was the last of eleven children in his family.
Services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, July 21, 2014, at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany, with burial following at Lawndale Cemetery, Ridgeville. Casual dress is preferred.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 12 to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
