Former Albany area resident Donna B. Friend, age 89, died Saturday February 24, 2024 at her home in Pinellas Park, FL.  Born at home in rural Delaware County on March 27, 1934, she was a graduate of Greene Township High School in Randolph County and lived in Florida from 1973-2003 and in Fairview (east of Albany) before moving back to Florida in 2018.  Donna was a caregiver for 10 years and had worked in the cafeteria at Albany Elementary School.  While living in Florida she worked at the Tampa International Airport with various duties that included the delivery of air freight.  She was a member of First Baptist Church in Morningside, Muncie, and enjoyed baking, cooking, and quilting.

Survivors include a son: Grant U. Friend, Tarpon Springs, FL; daughters: Gayle L. Miller (husband: Ron), Pinellas Park, FL, Geriann Watts (husband: Gene), Chipley, FL, and Jody L. Fairo, Pinellas Park, FL; brother: Ralph E. "Gene" Glaze (wife: Dorothy), Muncie; sisters: Lula Mae Heston, Albany, Phyllis Baird, Gas City, and Mary J. McConnell, Albany; 7 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Jerry U. Friend, who died in 2014, her parents: Ralph & Flossie (Collins) Glaze, and brother: William David Glaze.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2024 at Meacham Funeral Service with burial following at Black Cemetery.  Rev. Sharon Taylor will officiate.

Visiting hours are Saturday from 11-1 p.m. at the funeral home.
