ALBANY – Don Morgan, age 86, Albany, died Thursday night at Albany Health Care. Born in Dunkirk on Dec. 26, 1924, he attended school in Green Township and was a resident of Albany for several years. Don retired in 1983 from Indiana Bell after working there 36 years. After retirement he worked at various jobs including delivery for Liggett's Florists. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and a member of American Legion Post 167, Albany, and Telephone Pioneers of America. He was a former member of Albany Lions Club and Crown City Squares. Don enjoyed his cottage on Tippecanoe Lake, wintering in Florida, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 63 years, Ruth Morgan; 2 sons: Jeff Morgan (wife: Stacey), Albany, and Joe Morgan (wife: Robyn), Avon; 2 daughters: Nancy Duckworth (husband: Greg), Eaton, and Stacy Shideler (husband: Rock), Muncie; 10 grandchildren: Doug Morgan, Adam Morgan, Heather Carney, Jacob Morgan, Perrie Morgan, Travis Duckworth, Betsy Duckworth, Lucas Shideler, Brock Shideler, and Morgan Shideler; 6 great-grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers: Archie, Harmon, and Dale Morgan, and 3sisters: Evelyn Tinkle, Mildred Marshal, and Edith Collins.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday January 31, 2011, at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany. Burial will take place at a later date.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 1-5 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
