ALBANY – Don Hamilton, Jr., age 63, Albany, died unexpectedly at home on Tuesday Sept. 24, 2013.  Born in Portland on Nov. 27, 1949, he was the son of Donald C. & Helen M. (Gregg) Hamilton.  Don grew up in Albany and was a 1968 graduate of Montpelier High School; he also received a degree in engineering.  He worked for TK Constructors for over 20 years and at one time sold cars at G.M.C. Truck Sales and was an engineer at Cleon Fullhart Excavating.  Don was an avid bowler and golfer.  He belonged to Albany Golf Club, Dunkirk Moose Lodge, and Sons of the American Legion Post 167.  In the late 1960's into the 1970's he played semi-professional baseball.

Survivors include his wife, Julie Hamilton, and their daughter: Holly Hamilton, both of Warsaw; a brother: Mike Hamilton (wife: Cindy), New Castle; a sister: Marilyn Folkerth (husband: Steve), Dunkirk; 2 nephews: Bryan Jessup (wife: Becky) and Ryan Hamilton (wife: Tara); also, 3 nieces: Jennifer Parrish, Melissa Jessup, and Kelly Hamilton.

His parents are deceased.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Friday Sept. 27, 2013 at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 3-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be directed to Foundation Fighting Blindness, P.O. Box 17279, Baltimore, MD 21297-0495.
