ALBANY – Dolores (Clevenger) Shank-Arbogast, age 80, Albany, died Monday evening at Albany Health Care & Rehabilitation Center. Born in Chicago, IL on Sept. 6, 1932, she grew up in Delaware County and was a graduate of Eaton High School. As a local artist Dolores was an accomplished china painter and was a teacher of the art for several years. She was a longtime member of Albany United Methodist Church and belonged to Herb Club, 4-H, and China Club. At one time she was a member of Tri Kappa sorority and Home Ec. Club. She enjoyed gardening, arranging flowers, traveling, and adoring the babies.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur "Pat" Arbogast; a son: Jim Shank (& Lisa Watson), Winchester; a daughter: Kay Royer (husband: Gary), Ft. Wayne; 3 brothers: John W. "Jack" Clevenger, Jr. (wife: Joyce), Muncie, Don Clevenger (wife: Sandra), Strawberry Point, IO, and Arnold E. Clevenger, Sr. (wife: Shirley), Albany; a son-in-law: Mike McCarty, Albany; 2 step-sons: James Arbogast (wife: Patty), Bolingbrook, IL, and Chris Arbogast (wife: Tami), Yorktown; 2 step-daughters: Ellen Johnson (husband: Christopher), Muncie, and Melanie Parkison (husband: Scott), Muncie; 8 grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 8 step-great-grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Alvin N. "Al" Shank; her parents: John W. (Sr.) & Lucille (Fry) Clevenger; an infant son: Bruce Alvin Shank; a daughter: DeeAnn McCarty, and a brother: Lowell Dean Clevenger.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 3, 2013, at Albany United Methodist Church with burial following at Strong Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 4-8 p.m. at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany, and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the church.
