ALBANY – Dewey W. Miller, Sr., age 79, Albany, died Monday afternoon at Albany Health Care. Born in Loudon Co., TN on Oct. 31, 1931, he was the son of William E. & Irene (Bales) Miller. Dewey moved to Indiana and attended Stoney Creek schools in Randolph Co. He was an Albany resident for several years. Dewey worked in Assembly at Warner Gear for 30 years and 7 months before retiring in 1982. He worked at D&M Door in Albany for 5 years after retirement and was very active with Anthony Lodge No. 171, F. & A.M., Albany, where he was a Past Master. He was a former member of Scottish Rite Valley of Ft. Wayne, Order of The Eastern Star Teresa Chapter 237, Albany, where he was a Past Worthy Patron, and Independent Order of Oddfellows, Albany. Dewey enjoyed riding his motorcycle and frequent daily coffee breaks with his friends.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Carolyn (Main) Miller; a son: Dewey W. Miller, Jr. (wife: Sue), Ft. Wayne; a daughter: Micco R. Losh (husband: Chad), Albany; a sister: Barbara F. Evans (husband: Jim), Muncie; 4 grandchildren: David, Cody, Eden and Drake; 3 step-grandchildren: Richie, Brian and Tammie; 4 great-grandchildren: Leah, Cali, Anna and Mason; 17 step great-grandchildren, 4 nieces, 4 nephews and many cousins.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Janice "Jan" Cadieux (6/20/11), his parents, a grandson: Randall Ericson Losh; a half-brother: Hartzell Miller, and 2 half-sisters: Nellie Mae Oren and Alberta Goforth.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2011, at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. with Anthony Lodge providing Masonic rites at 8 p.m.
