REDKEY – Deloris "Dee" Denney, age 80, Redkey, died Tuesday night at Miller's Merry Manor in Dunkirk. Born in Jay County on Jan. 3, 1935, she was the daughter of Charles & Blanche Schooley. She graduated from Redkey High School in 1953 and was a homemaker. Over the years she had worked at the bakery in Redkey, Jay Garment in Portland, and most recently at the Blackford Senior Center where she worked up until last year. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Redkey, Gamma Nu sorority, and enjoyed crossword puzzles, sewing, and walking with her friends.
Survivors include her children: Jeff Caldwell, Tampa, FL, Lisa Buckner (husband: Robbie), Portland, Brett Denney, Redkey, and Todd Denney (wife: Chele), Fishers; 10 grandchildren: Samantha, Brittany, Eric, Kelsea, Summer, Sherri, Mike, Justin, Travis, and Marcy; 8 great-grandchildren: Jaxson, Chloe, Willow, Carly, Baylor, Cooper, Jake, Colton, and a nephew: Chuck Schooley.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Bob Denney, who died in 2008; a son: Martin Caldwell; a granddaughter: Jessica Caldwell; her parents, and a brother: Charles Schooley.
Services will be 5 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2015, at the First Christian Church in Redkey. Cremation will follow.
Visiting hours will be held from 1 until 5 p.m. at the church on Saturday.
