DUNKIRK – Debra Patterson, age 57, Dunkirk, died Monday night at home following an extended illness. Born June 7, 1953 in Zanesville, OH, she moved to Indiana in 1967 and was a 1971 graduate of Dunkirk High School. She worked for the United States Postal Service for over 20 years and was Postmaster in Dunkirk until retiring due to health reasons in 2009. In earlier years she was a school bus driver in the Jay School Corporation and had worked at Indiana Glass for several years. She was a member of Elks Lodge #1776, Dunkirk, Moose Lodge #1352, Dunkirk, and American Legion (Auxiliary) Post 227, Dunkirk. Debra enjoyed bowling, reading, shopping, and gardening.
Survivors include her children: Tracie Louck, Des Moines, IA, Brandie Louck, Oakland, CA, and Jared Arbuckle, New Castle; her parents: James F. & Ethel Patterson, Roseville, OH; a sister: Cheryl Martin (husband: Lee), Zanesville, OH, and 2 nieces: Jana Wise and Caryn Reynolds.
She is preceded in death by a nephew, Michael Burns.
A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday October 9, 2010, at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany, with visiting hours beginning one hour prior to the service.
