ALBANY – Dean Stinson, 72, Albany, died Wednesday Jan. 1, 2014, at home.  Born in Anderson on May 4, 1941, he was the son of Floyd & Agnes Stinson.  Dean graduated from Parker City High School in 1959 and worked in banking for several years, first at Mutual Home in Muncie and then at First State Bank in Dunkirk.  After leaving the bank, Dean began work for Moorman's Feeds and stayed 22 years before retiring.  He was a member of Anthony Lodge No. 171, F. & A.M. and a two-time past Exalted Ruler of Dunkirk Elks Lodge.  He also belonged to Albany Lions Club, Dunkirk Moose Lodge, and Sons of American Legion Post 167, Albany.

Survivors include his wife, Linda (Summerfield) Stinson; 2 sons: Doug Stinson, Indianapolis, and Mark Stinson, Dunkirk; 2 step-daughters: Vanna DeVoe (husband: Steve), Muncie, and Tami Johnson, Muncie; a brother: Monty Stinson (wife: Nancy), Muncie; 3 grandchildren: Leslie DeVoe, Molly DeVoe, and Joey Leatherwood; a great grandchild: Delaney Heflin, and several nieces &nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother: Larry Stinson, and 2 sisters: Pharba Jane Letukas and Phyllis Jean Russell.

Services will be conducted at 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2014, at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany.  Cremation will follow.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday from 1-5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be sent to Dunkirk Elks Lodge to benefit their cancer drive.
