ALBANY – Dale O. Longerbone, age 86, Albany, died Tuesday night at Albany Health Care & Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness.  Born in Sturgis, MI on Aug. 12, 1926, he grew up in Pennville and lived most of his life in Albany.  Along with his wife Marlene he established D. and M. Door Co., Inc. in Albany during 1973; they operated the business together until retiring in 1998.  Dale was a member of Albany Christian Church and belonged to many civic and fraternal organizations including Anthony Lodge No. 171, F. & A.M., I.O.O.F. Lodge No. 45, O.E.S. Halfway Chapter 230, Scottish Rite, and the Shrine where he participated in taking local children to the Shrine Circus for many years.  He was also an active participant in the annual An Albany Christmas celebration.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Marlene Longerbone; a son: Steve Longerbone (wife: Sally), Albany; a step-son: Gary Andreas, Columbus, OH; 2 daughters: Vicky Hatch, Twenty-Nine Palms, CA, and Kathy Sollars (husband: Danny), Dunkirk; 2 special daughters: Sharen Unroe (husband: Dennis), Albany, and Lynne Ganser (husband: Bob), Green Isle, MN; 13 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Orlo & Mildred Longerbone, a sister: Naomi Atterson, and in-laws: George & Mildred Little.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany, with burial following at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Pennville.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 5-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home.  Masonic rites will be given at 8 p.m. on Friday.

Memorials may be sent to Shriner's Hospitals for Children or An Albany Christmas.
