DUNKIRK – Classie Marie Marcum, age 68, Dunkirk, went to be with The Lord peacefully with family at her bedside Sunday night at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital following an extended illness. Born in Hartford City on Dec. 1, 1947, she was the daughter of Sherman and Thelma Fuller. She graduated from Redkey High School in 1965 and was a retiree of Saint Gobain Containers (now Ardagh). Classie was a devoted grandmother and a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 227 and V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 7081, Dunkirk, as well as the local glassworkers union.
Survivors include her husband of forty-five years: Virgil L. Marcum, and their children: Rosa Daugherty (husband: Byron), Redkey, and Bradley A. Marcum (wife: Krishna), Lebanon; two brothers: Gene Fuller, Sparta, TN, and Ronnie Fuller (wife: Marsha), Dunkirk; a sister: Ellen Steen (husband: Dwain), Albany; 6 grandchildren: Joshua Marcum, Charles Daugherty, Jason Daugherty, Kyle Marcum, Ashley Marcum, and Carter Marcum. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Lonnie and Tommy Fuller, and two sisters: Felma Mock and Stella Cox.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015, at Meacham Funeral Service, Albany, with burial following at I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Dunkirk.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
