DUNKIRK – Chris Gibbs, age 51, Dunkirk, died unexpectedly Wednesday March 4, 2015, at home from natural causes. Born in Muncie on March 8, 1963, he grew up near Redkey and was a graduate of Jay County High School. He worked at Wearly Monuments for 21 years and had just started work at FCC in Portland. Chris was a former member of Sons of The American Legion and enjoyed model airplanes, hunting, fishing, and riding his motorcycle.
Survivors include his parents, Allan & Peggy Gibbs, Redkey; two children: Chance Gibbs, Portland, and Morgan Ransom, Tell City; a brother: Mark Gibbs, Chicago, IL, and sister: Teresa Hartsock (husband: Don), Maxville; two grandchildren, and three nieces.
He is preceded in death by a daughter: Christie Gibbs, a sister: Penny Gibbs, and an infant brother: Guy Allan Gibbs.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2015, at Meacham Funeral Service. Burial will follow at Hill Crest Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 4 until 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home.
