Charlotte J. Powers, 81, Albany, passed away Monday January 2, 2023 at home following an extended illness.  Born in Albany on March 18, 1941, she was a lifelong resident of Delaware County and a 1959 graduate of DeSoto High School.  Charlotte was a homemaker and self-employed housekeeper for homes & churches.  She attended Mississinewa Christian Church and was a member of DeSoto United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed singing in church choirs, was a former Sunday school teacher, and helped form the Kids Club at Albany Christian Church.  She served several years as an E.M.T. for Albany E.M.S., was sexton of Strong Cemetery for 30 years, and was a former Cub Scout leader.

Survivors include her adult children: Kent Sloniker (wife: Brooki), Muncie, and Vanessa Selvey, Albany; brother: Phil D. Grove, Sr. (wife: Janet), Albany; sister: Marsha Tarr, Albany; grandchildren: Joseph Selvey (Cynthia Yingst), Logan Wilson (husband: Jason), Kacie Royal (husband: Devin), and Landon Sloniker; great-grandchildren: Olivia, Nora, and Emery Yingst, Kamryn, Kinsley, Skylar, Reagan, Rian, and Oaklynn Wilson, and Adalyn-Kate Royal.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Donald Cleo Powers; parents: Gerald & Amy (DeHaven) Grove, and sister: Janice Summers.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, January 6, 2023 at Meacham Funeral Service.  Burial will follow at Strong Cemetery.

Visiting hours are Thursday from 4 until 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Friday at the funeral home.
